Stuck, or something looks wrong? Email hello@powderhowler.com. A person reads every message and replies, usually within a day. Quick answers are below.
I paid for premium and it isn't showing
Open Settings, then Free and premium. In the iPhone or Android app, tap Restore purchases while signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account you paid with. On the website, sign in with the email you used at checkout: premium belongs to your account and follows you to a new phone. Still nothing? Email us the address you paid with and the date, and we'll sort it out.
How do I cancel, or get a refund?
- Website: use Manage or cancel on the Free and premium screen. For a web purchase, email us within 14 days of a charge and we'll refund it.
- iPhone or Android app: cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Apple and Google handle refunds for purchases made in the apps, under their own rules.
The details are in section 4 of our terms of use.
My powder alerts don't arrive
- In the app, open Settings then Powder alerts and check that the resort is listed and its snowfall amount isn't higher than the storm.
- Check that notifications for Powder Howler are allowed in your phone's settings. On the website, your browser must allow notifications for powderhowler.com.
- If you turned alerts off, or blocked them in your phone, they stop and the saved alert is deleted. Turn them on again to start fresh.
Where does the snow data come from, and how fresh is it?
Forecasts come from the US National Weather Service and Open-Meteo, and radar from Environment and Climate Change Canada. Observed snow is measured by SNOTEL, NOAA and provincial station networks, and avalanche danger is published by avalanche.org centres and Avalanche Canada. We refresh forecasts, observed snow and avalanche danger about every hour. If a number is more than a few hours old, the card says so. Every source is credited in the app, and our promise says how we treat the numbers.
Station readings can lag or be missing for a day, and forecasts change. For backcountry travel, always read the full forecast from your local avalanche centre.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings and tap Delete account. It deletes the account, its sign-in link and any premium record. Cancel a running subscription first. If you can't reach the button, email us from the address on the account and we'll delete it for you. More in our privacy policy.
I found a problem
Thank you. Email hello@powderhowler.com and tell us:
- what you expected and what you saw, and the resort if it's about one;
- your phone or computer, and whether you used the app or the website;
- a screenshot, if you can.
Please don't send passwords or payment card numbers. We never need them.
