Powder Howler for backcountry guides and tour operators
Last updated 18 October 2026
Powder Howler is a free snow and storm tracker. We are not a guiding product yet, and we would like to hear what guides and tour operators need before we build for them. What it gives you today:
What is in the app today
- Avalanche danger as published by avalanche.org (US) and Avalanche Canada, with the problem types shown on the resort page where the centre shares them. It is reference only: always read the centre's own forecast before you go.
- Storm timing: live radar, snow coming over the next days and snow that fell in the last 24 or 72 hours.
- Snowpack: SNOTEL and provincial station readings, depth and season totals against the median.
- 3D terrain and a multi-resort powder trip planner.
Not a substitute for training
Powder Howler does not tell you where it is safe to ski. Avalanche terrain needs training, rescue gear and a local forecast. See our terms of use.
Talk to us
If you guide, run a cat or heli operation or lead tours, tell us what would help your day: hello@powderhowler.com. We will say plainly what we can and cannot build, and what is on the roadmap.
